BIG SIGNAL 4BS-2
Compact 4-Element Directional Cubical Quad for 144 MHz
The BIG SIGNAL 4BS-2 is a 4-element directional Cubical Quad developed for operators looking for high performance on 144 MHz without installing an oversized antenna system.
Its architecture uses full-wave closed-loop elements to combine gain, directivity, and a favorable signal-to-noise ratio in a compact structure, making it especially well suited for terrestrial DX, SSB, digital modes, and weak-signal operation on 2 meters.
Band: 144 MHz / 2-Meter Band
Type: Directional monoband Cubical Quad
Elements: 4 full-wave elements
Design: Compact and directional
Applications: DX / Weak-Signal / SSB / Digital Modes
Assembly: Preassembled elements
Why Choose the BIG SIGNAL 4BS-2?
• 4 Full-Wave Loop Elements
The 4BS-2 uses full-wave closed-loop elements, one of the defining characteristics of Cubical Quad design and a key part of its electrical behavior on the 2-meter band.
• High Performance in a Compact Format
Its four-element configuration provides an attractive balance of gain, directivity, and overall size, especially for installations where available space or turning radius is an important consideration.
• Excellent Signal-to-Noise Ratio
The closed-loop geometry can provide cleaner reception in the presence of certain types of electrical noise, helping improve weak-signal copy in demanding RF environments.
• Directivity and Rejection of Unwanted Signals
Its directional pattern concentrates transmit and receive energy toward the desired direction, while front-to-back rejection and reduced unwanted lobes help separate signals arriving from other directions.
• Favorable Behavior with Polarization Changes
Cubical Quad geometry can reduce the impact of certain changes in received-signal polarization, contributing to more stable reception and reduced fading under some conditions.
• Quick and Simple Assembly
Its preassembled elements simplify installation, reducing setup time and avoiding unnecessarily complex adjustments.
144 MHz Performance Without a Large Antenna Structure
The 4BS-2 is designed for operators ready to move beyond an omnidirectional antenna or basic directional system and step up to greater gain and improved rejection, while maintaining practical dimensions for a home-station installation.
• 4 full-wave elements.
• Compact design for 144 MHz.
• Excellent balance of gain and overall dimensions.
• Excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
• High directivity and selectivity.
• Especially well suited for DX and weak-signal operation.
