Después de mucho pensar y buscar una opción de antena multibanda para llevar a Cabo Verde de vacaciones, hablé con Juan Pedro, de Big Signal Antennas, sobre la DeltaFlex, sus características y dimensiones. Quería comprobar si podría ponerla en mi ubicación de D4, y lo cierto es que me encajaba como anillo al dedo.
Una vez en mi ubicación de Cabo Verde, procedí a la instalación según las instrucciones de montaje. La extendí en un mástil de fibra de 10 metros de altura, dejando la alimentación aproximadamente a unos 2 metros para así poder acceder fácilmente al conmutador de bandas. Tras comprobar la ROE en todas las bandas ?donde solo tuve que hacer un pequeño ajuste en la de 40 metros?, el siguiente paso fue hacer las primeras pruebas de transmisión. Por la hora que era, mi elección para el estreno fue la banda de 15 metros en CW. Después de un par de llamadas con solo 10 W, empezaron a salir varias estaciones de Europa y algunos de mis "pilotos" desde Asturias, pasándome muy buenos reportes.
Durante la actividad en Cabo Verde he utilizado la DeltaFlex con excelentes resultados en las bandas de 40, 20, 15 y 10 metros. Cabe destacar que, estando en medio de una ciudad como Praia ?con los ruidos provocados por innumerables cables colgando, luces y ruido eléctrico en general?, la antena ha discriminado muy bien el QRM. El rendimiento ha sido muy bueno, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que el equipo usado durante gran parte de la actividad ha sido un Icom IC-705 con 10 W.
Mi opinión final de la antena es muy buena: ofrece poco ruido y un excelente resultado en transmisión. Es una antena que ocupa muy poco espacio cuando está plegada y apenas pesa unos 500 gramos, ideal para transportarla. Eso sí, para que rinda al máximo hay que respetar las recomendaciones de instalación del fabricante y, sobre todo, tener en cuenta que es una antena larga que requiere un mínimo de 18 metros de espacio para una buena instalación.
Por lo demás, disfrutaréis de una antena que os hará pasar muy buenos ratos de radio. Como dato, con tan solo 10 W y el IC-705, he trabajado en la banda de 40 metros entidades DXCC como C21, VK, ZL, HI, TI, YV, PY o K, entre otras.
La instalo en un mástil de fibra de vidrio de unos 7 metros de altura tal y como me recomendó Juan Pedro. Teniendo espacio despejado, su montaje flexible, te permite ajustar altura, anchura y orientación donde estés de forma rápida.
Destaco especialmente su gran ancho de banda y para un ajuste fino de ROE en frecuencia, basta con estrangular con la brida el vértice inferior del extremo opuesto al mástil, acortando o alargando así el triángulo, resultando bastante sencillo y efectivo.
Los resultados han sido muy buenos dadas las características de la antena cerrada y su bajo nivel de QRM y ha cumplido plenamente con mis necesidades actuales.
De lo mejor que he comprado para operaciones de campo, montada en un mástil de 6 metros de altura trabajó muy bien las bandas ofrecidas.
Enrollada cabe en cualquier bolso y muy ligera .
De mis favoritas para trabajar POTA en México.

He tenido la oportunidad de probar la antena durante aproximadamente una semana y los resultados han sido altamente satisfactorios. Esta antena, diseñada para uso flexible tanto portátil como en base, abarca las bandas de 10, 15, 20 y 40 metros. Su instalación ha sido un éxito, logrando un montaje firme con un mástil de al menos 35 pies (11 metros) y vientos.
Lo notable es que no se requiere un sintonizador adicional; simplemente cambiando la banda mediante el conmutador de la antena, evitas la necesidad de utilizar equipos adicionales. La antena es liviana y presenta terminaciones muy profesionales. La he instalado de forma independiente y he podido trabajar varios DX en distintos modos como CW, RTTY, FONIA y FT4 en las diversas bandas, ya sea con 100 watts o con un amplificador (HLA 300 Black RM Italy).
Lo más impresionante es la calidad del sonido de recepción: nítido y prístino. En algunas ocasiones, he logrado ingresar a pile-ups con informes positivos. Esta antena resulta perfecta para actividades como POTA, BOTA, Field days, y otras situaciones donde se requiera una antena multibanda práctica, liviana, flexible y fácil de montar. Una vez sintonizada cerca de los 7.100 MHz, las demás bandas quedan afinadas automáticamente.
En resumen, después de una semana de pruebas, la antena ha demostrado mantener consistentemente buenos resultados en DX y ha recibido excelentes informes.
